After a long, drawn out winter, there was no place I wanted to be more than with my family, in the Sunshine State. A native of Florida (Miami specifically), this winter took a toll on me and I was in much need of some Vitamin D. So last Friday, I boarded an early morning flight to the “305” and I must say, that warmth and sunshine worked miracles (as well as a pretty severe sunburn to this Snow White skin of mine).
Upon arrival, I went straight to the beach to spend the day basking in the sun with my best friend. After getting settled in and switching into my bikini (I almost forgot what it looked like), we lunched under big umbrellas at the Ritz Carlton’s outside patio, ordered a much needed cocktail and enjoyed a very Good Friday hanging out, laughing enjoying the sunny South Florida weather!
Saturday morning, we were greeted by yet another gorgeous day. We indulged in a small, but yummy breakfast (guava mimosas included, naturally) and headed down to the beach where we reserved a couple of lounge chairs (and an umbrella, of course). We spent the day tanning with friends, sipping on champagne and enjoying the gorgeous weather!
In the afternoon, we wanted a change of scenery and headed to the SLS Hotel – a trendy and luxurious boutique-like hotel on South Beach. Every Saturday and Sunday, the hotel has a fun, energetic pool party where locals and non-locals alike gather to sip, sway and schmooze in a pretty swanky backyard environment.
As the sun set, we decided it was time to go home to get ready for a night of more fun and adventure. After a little bit of rest, we were quickly dressed for a short, but rather fun night at two of Miami Beach’s newest hot spots – Bodega and the Edition Hotel.
Bodega is a speakeasy like bar with a taco stand disguise at the front of it. I felt like I was back in NYC and loved it! The Edition Hotel, is another one of Miami Beach’s newest luxury hotels with one of the most beautifully designed properties I’ve seen in a while! We sipped on some pretty crafty cocktails and enjoyed the rest of the night on the outside patio. It was nothing short of fabulous!
Easter Sunday was soon upon us. But before departing, the BFF and I enjoyed an amazing massage at the Ritz Carlton South Beach location. So far, it was a great weekend.
As we said our good-byes, I headed to my family’s house for an Easter Sunday family gathering. Now that I live so far away from them, I cherish every moment spent with them. As the afternoon progressed, we ate, drank and enjoyed watching our Nugget (my nephew) engage in his first Easter egg hunt.
Overall, it was a beautiful weekend spent with great friends and family, enjoying much need rest, relaxation…and some good ol’ Vitamin D!
