Top 5 Gotham Go-To Brunch Bonanzas

epThe weekend is upon us, and you know what that means… BRUNCH! Yes, you know, that popular midday weekend activity we all look forward to every week, usually because we’re curing a hangover or curing a long week at work (or maybe both). Sometimes you show up for the killer eggs benedict and sometimes for those bottomless Bloody’s. Whatever your excuse or whatever your preference, here are five of my favorite food (and booze) spots for brunchin’ with your besties, your bae or even by yourself (hey, maybe its time to meet a new boo!)

epOn the Cheap
– So let’s face itthis lovely city we live in isn’t exactly cheap to keep, so that’s why, when there’s fabulous food at an pretty price, we’re all about it. Yes there’s probably a list of 30 under $30, but at less than half of that price, we found Epstein’s on the Lower East Side. For just $13.50 (You can’t even buy a two pack of toothbrushes for that price these days), you can get a decent hearty meal (I didn’t say fancy or gourmet, so don’t expect any kind of superfood) and bottomless Bloody’s, Mimosas or Screwdrivers. The price alone is worth drinking to!

Epstein’s Bar – 82 Stanton Street, New York, NY

See and Be Scene – And just when you thought the party was reserved for anytime after 10PM, the popular baBrunch Party arrived on the scene, making you wonder if you should’ve even taken a rest to go home between last night and this morning. With the ever popular party taking over the brunch scene, there are a number of vibin’ venues around the city looking to turn your day into night into day. And although its hard to choose between these swanky soirees, we think Bagatelle in the Meatpacking District makes its way to number one. Pretty people, bangin’ beats and an endless flow of alcohol make this the top contender in this category. But don’t be fooled, if you’re pockets aren’t as pretty as your face, be prepared to get turned away by the doorman. You read that right, yes, a doorman, for brunch.

Bagatelle – 1 Little West 12th Street, New York, NY

alFunky & Fabulous Fare – Now, we’ve been to a lot of places to eat, drink, hang out and do the dirty work for you (honestly, who’s complaining?), so when we say we found “the best” trust us with this one. There’s no secret recipe to knowing good food, we just know it when we taste it and when we discovered this eclectic eatery, we couldn’t wait to share it with you. The gastro-genius (and James Beard Award winner) behind the hangover-curing cuisine at Alder in the East Village, Wylie Dufresne graces us with things like pizza bagels topped with pepperoni made of egg yoks, Blood Mary flavored popcorn kernels, jerk chicken flavored waffles, and the list goes on. Ok, our mouths are watering. Is it Sunday yet?

Alder – 157 2nd Avenue, New York, NY

Best Deal Brunch – We’re New Yorkers. We drink. We eat. It’s what we do. It’s a known fact. So any place thatgg honors this favorite pastime of ours, is a favorite of ours (as long as the dollar sign doesn’t match the amount of our dilemas). And although there are an endless list of spots we love for this reason in and around the City, this Chelsea choice is a fav for its overall fun, fare and flow (drinks that is)! For $48.95 at Gallow Green (a rooftop lounge from the group that brings you Sleep No More) you get to indulge in a bad-ass breakfast buffet plus wash it down with unlimited mimosas and Bloody Mary’s, listen to live music and hang on one of the radest rooftops in all of Manhattan. Yes, please!

Gallow Green – 542 W 27th Street, New York, NY

lipsEccentric Ensemble – Weekends were made to kick back, relax and… witness a daytime drag show while you dine? Sure, why not! While it’s not meant to be your average brunch bar, this eccentric ensemble make you wonder why you never brunched like this before. Belting out tunes to some of your favorite Broadway shows, these lively “ladies” entertain while you eat. So, for just $21.95 you get food, booze and some electric entertainment. Who wouldn’t want to spend Sunday afternoon in the Big Apple this way?

Lips – 227 E 56th Street, New York, NY

Now, of course this list can go on forever, but hey, its time to get to grazin’ and guzlin’. Cheers to the freakin’ weekend!
